Just when I thought my bands and record labels had permanently checked out for the winter freeze, we get a week like this! The National doing a song from the 20s, Interpol leaking out early demos, Public Enemy collaborating with Tom Morello, and the return of Yo La Tengo.

There’s also a nice sample of our upcoming interview with Jakob Dylan about the new Wallflowers disc, so as you see, more than enough to entertain you for the next hour. Dig in.

Big Time Video: Ellie Goulding - "Figure 8": Ellie is pissed about a guy and has decided that mixing bad art-house with angry writhing is the way to exercise those feelings.

Frightened Rabbit - "Dead Now": Returning from their Winter of Mixed Drinks, Scotland’s gang of Frabbits give us a tumbling single that makes dying of a busted heart an event to smile about.

Lana Del Rey - "Ride (UNKEL Remix)": Just when I had written Lana off as the pouty, one-trick pony she projects, UNKLE turns a decent song into a pretty incredible trip-hop jam.

Norah Jones - "Good Morning (David Sitek Remix)" - It’s not the first time TV On the Radio’s Sitek has put a spin on Norah’s latest but this remix is his crowning achievement.

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy / OXES - "Strong Enough: - Will Oldham joins up with Oxes for a buzzy rendition of the Sheryl Crow classic with the results sounding like a countrified Flaming Lips deep cut!

We’ve got a special guest this week, one of the greatest bartenders in the USofA, Jared Schubert. Along with Erin Keane, we talk about the tragic, tragic breakup as INXS – who were apparently still together. Also, Morgan Spurlock is doing a new documentary. It’s for One Direction. Yeah, the boy band thing. Bruce Springsteen is also getting his own documentary, but this one is fan generated, which is to say that it’s basically going to be Boss Porn. And if all of that weren’t enough, Mellencamp is teaming up with Stephen King for a musical, which should be… nice?

Big Time Video: Beach House - "WIld": People got problems, yo. Depressed zombie problems.

Jim James - "Know Til Now": From a solo record that’s based off of a 1929 graphic novel, My Morning Jacket’s frontman blends soul, electro, and that unmistakable voice into futuristic casserole.

Fiona Apple - "Dull Tool": The character in subject may not say what they mean, but there is no denying that Fiona does in this highly buzzed single to Judd Apatow’s "This Is 40" soundtrack.

Yo La Tengo - "Before We Run": Calling the album Fade definitely sets the thematics for this cut. While it closes the record, it feels like a beginning, though one slightly out of focus and unsure.

Bad Religion - "Fuck You": While the world changes, we can always count on the steadfast prowess of Bad Religion. Worth noting that Rancid as a new song of the same name. The punk war is on!
